AHBI Foundation CEO and Board Member
The CFO Board Member will support the work of AHBI Foundation and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by AHBI Foundation’s chief executive officer (CEO), the Board CFO relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected. Specific Board Member responsibilities include:
AHBI Foundation Board Members will consider the foundation a philanthropic priority and make annual gifts that reflect that priority, a minimum of $2400.00 a year for three years. So that AHBI Foundation can credibly solicit contributions from foundations, organizations, and individuals, AHBI Foundation expects to have 100 percent of Board Members make an annual contribution that is commensurate with their capacity
AHBI Foundation Board Members will serve a three-year term to be eligible for re-appointment for one additional term. Board meetings will be held annually and committee meetings will be held in coordination with full board meetings.
This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about AHBI Foundations mission and who has a track record of board leadership. Selected Board Members will have achieved leadership stature in business, government, philanthropy, or the nonprofit sector. His/her accomplishments will allow him/her to attract other well-qualified, high-performing Board Members.
The Garden to Table Internship at AHBI Foundation is a great career builder for anyone interested in community development and fighting food insecurities in the nonprofit sector. Upon completion, the intern can expect to acquire invaluable experience in gardening, community development, composting, unusable spaces to gardens, propagation, and productive vegetables.
Duties and Responsibilities: The AHBI Fundraising Intern will be responsible for researching gardening techniques, building community and residential gardens, and collecting outcome data on the garden to table program. The intern will assist in conducting interviews and writing stories about clients to be included in newsletters and applications highlighting the work that we do.
Activities may include:
● Research, plan, coordinate, and manage the garden to table program events.
● Research, write, and apply for grants supporting AHBI Foundation garden to table initiatives.
● Generate garden to table initiatives that increase donors and their loyalty.
● Provide accurate data collection for the AHBI Foundation garden to table program.
Qualifications:
● Desire to work with the underserved communities in Central and Eastern Missouri.
● Must own a personal laptop computer.
● Ability to commit to the entire internship period, a minimum of 4 months.
● Interest in garden to table, urban farming, and community development.
● Strong interpersonal skills. The ability to come across as sincere while embodying AHBI’s mission and vision.
● Comfortable with reaching out to community members via email, phone, and in-person appointments.
● Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when needed.
Start Date: AHBI Foundation interns usually begin the first week of the semester.
Time Commitment: It is our hope that our interns experience as much of AHBI as they can, and truly become a part of our team. Therefore, we have created a program centered on a minimum of 240 hours allocated over the course of 15 weeks. However, AHBI allows interns to work additional weeks and hours if their program requires it or if they choose to be more involved.
Compensation: Though unpaid, the internship provides the opportunity to build nonprofit management and fundraising skills while making a tangible contribution in addressing the needs of the local underserved community.
Work Environment: The intern will work in a small collaborative office environment, in gardens, and has the ability to work remotely.
Academic credit: AHBI Foundation will work with interns and their college programs to solidify college credit. We are happy to work with interns to meet the requirements of their department’s internship program.
The Development and Fundraising Internship at AHBI Foundation is a great career builder for anyone interested in community development and fundraising in the nonprofit sector. Upon completion, the intern can expect to acquire invaluable experience in fundraising, branding, event management, strategic planning, and writing grant applications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The AHBI Fundraising Intern will be responsible for researching potential grants, working with the grant committee, and overseeing the application process. The intern will assist in conducting interviews and writing stories about clients to be included in newsletters and applications highlighting the work that we do
Activities may include:
● Research, plan, coordinate, and manage fundraising events.
● Research, write, and apply for grants supporting AHBI Foundation.
● Identify prospective individual and corporate donors and cultivate relationships with donors.
● Generate initiatives that increase donor loyalty.
● Provide accurate data collection from grant reporting and proposals.
● Serve as in-house copy editor.
Qualifications:
● Desire to work with the underserved communities in Central and Eastern Missouri.
● Must own a personal laptop computer.
● Ability to commit to the entire internship period, a minimum of 4 months.
● Organized and clear writing ability is required. Must be able to develop clear and detailed content for grants and fundraising efforts.
● Strong interpersonal skills. The ability to come across as sincere while embodying AHBI’s mission and vision.
● Comfortable with reaching out to potential donors via email, phone, and in-person appointments.
● Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when needed.
